I arrived back in Chilliwack from Las Vegas at 2.00am this morning full of ideas from attending The Real Estated Staging Association 2017 Convention. As tired as I was from the flight, I couldn't wait to get started on catapulting my staging career to the next level after all of the information that I absorbed over the course of the convention.
I attended with Diane Hamel, my business partner and mother. We devised a divide and conquer plan; each of us would attend different sessions so that our company could get the most out of the experience. Now, I am one of those introverted-extroverts. I'm an actor and singer, and in my free time, I teach theatre to little kids. Most people wouldn't think of me a shy, but I am honestly terrified of this one thing... Meeting new people on my own.
I started the week out sticking close to Diane as we went to and from sessions and meals. Let's be honest... I was hiding behind her a bit. But something kind of amazing happened about half way through day two. I got over it.
A lot of the sessions I attended were focussed on getting more business, promoting yourself, or getting noticed in the industry. It was driven home again and again that in order to break out of your shell, you have to believe in yourself and in your skill set. If you go about your daily business knowing and believing that you can do the job well and that your target customer will succeed in reaching their goal with your help, you'll do a lot better.
After that little domino of information clicked into place, I found it a lot easier to make eye contact with someone as I passed them in the hallway and say, "Hi". It was kind of great to find a table full of people I didn't know and ask if there was a free seat. I began to feel like I could really do this.
As I sit here the day after the convention, writing about my experience, I realize that publishing an article like this isn't really something I would have done a few days ago. But I've got the confidence now to start pushing myself out of my box, and I'm so excited to see where that takes me.
One of Staged to Sell's recent clients had a newly built view property in a great neighborhood that had been vacant and on the market for 9 long months! After consulting with their new Realtor, the decision was made to call in a staging company.
Within days, the Hamel's Staged to Sell team of professionals was able to transform this spacious 4 bedroom/3 bath property into the kind of home that today's busy families are looking for. In just 2 weeks, the seller had an accepted offer and the new owners took possession only 3 weeks after the offer was accepted.
By staging at the outset of the sales process, this seller could have avoided approximately 8 months of taxes, utility costs, and mortgage payments. In fact, the seller plans to engage the services of Staged to Sell at the very beginning of his next building project!
MORAL OF THE STORY?
